Ptolemy Login Help Page 2007 January
The University of Toronto has changed the library login process
as of 2007 January.
Ptolemy participants still have full access to the whole library, but there
is no longer a ‘log in’ function on the home page.
Instead, the first time you attempt to access a link which will give you full
text material you will see the following page:

Select the second link under No UTORid? Which says login with your library
card and pin.
You will then see this:

In the box saying library card barcode:
- ERASE THE digits 217610
- Enter your Ptolemy account number eg ptXXXX or coXXXX or aseaXXXX
In the box saying PIN enter your 4 digit alphabetic or alphanumeric PIN.
You will then log in and arrive at the resource you selected.
****We have created a shortcut button on the Ptolemy.ca page which will take you directly to the login page above, and then into the PubMED index with full text access.****
When you have logged in once you stay logged in until you close internet explorer.
If you bookmark the following pages you can then navigate around the library while logged in:
The Ptolemy homepage:
www.ptolemy.ca
The Gerstein
Science library homepage
http://www.library.utoronto.ca/gerstein/
The Gerstein Science library homepage has the links for OVID
medline (labeled MEDLINE) and for PubMed (labeled PubMed(off-campus)) which
are the most useful starting points to search for abstracts which will have
full text links for downloading.
