Typhoid Fever

Case 1 Picture 1: A 35 year old woman was operated on for acute appendicitis. The appendix was gangrenous but not perforated. Post-operatively she remained febrile for more than 1 month. Initially she was treated without antibiotics, but subsequently gentamycin and metronidazole failed to resolve her fever. This was her fever pattern – diurnal and remitting:
